Description
A tropical tree in the Humiriaceae family, growing 8-25 m tall with small fruits that contain only a modest amount of pulp.

Cultivation
Succeeds in quite dense shade when small, requiring more light as it grows larger. Succeeds in shallow soils. Requires a well-drained soil. Established plants are drought tolerant.
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in individual containers. A low germination rate can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 60 - 90 days.
Other Uses
The wood is fine-textured, heavy, very hard, compact, with good mechanical properties and very durable. It is used in general construction for purposes such as scantlings, beams, laths, boards for floorings and linings and door jambs; for making furniture, window and door frames.

The fruit only have a small amount of pulp.
