Cultivation
Succeeds in full sun to moderate, dappled shade. Prefers a well-drained soil. Established plants are drought tolerant. Young plants have a moderate rate of growth. The fruits are much eaten by birds.
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A germination rate of less than 20% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 90 - 110 days.
Other Uses
The wood is medium-textured, straight-grained, light in weight, easy to cut and slightly susceptible to the attacks of wood-eating organisms. Too small to be of much use other than as fuel and to make charcoal.
