Description

A succulent herb. It grows 2.5 m tall. The leaves are dull green above and pale green underneath. The flowers are at the top. The flowering stalks are bright red. The flowers are enclosed in dark green bracts.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in swampy areas among either sago or pandanus. In PNG it has been recorded in the Ramu Valley.
