Description

A tree. It grows 5-20 m tall. The bark is grey and has thin cracks along it. The leaves are oval and 4-12 cm long by 2-5 cm wide. The fruit is yellowish and about 2 cm across It can be hairy. The seed is yellowish and 8 mm across.

Edible Uses

The fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in mountain forests between 100-600 m above sea level. It grows in Hainan.

Asia, China, Indochina, Myanmar, SE Asia, Vietnam,

Production

In China plants flower March to May and fruit April to July.

Also put in the family Xanthophyllaceae.
