Description

A small rounded tree. It grows 6 m high. The bark is black and cracked. The leaves are alternate and bright green. They are paler green underneath. They are 7 cm long. The small branches have a slight zig-zag pattern. The flowers are small and green. The fruit are small, round, red and soft. They are 3-7 cm across. They turn black when ripe.

Edible Uses

The fruit are edible.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in coastal regions and dry rainforest. It grows in open woodland. It grows between 500-900 m above sea level.

Plants are grown from seeds. They can also be grown from cuttings.
