Description

A tropical shrub in the Rubiaceae family, growing 7-8 m tall with small leaves, found at elevations between 115-300 m. It is an at-risk species notable for being almost caffeine-free.

Edible Uses

The fruit is used to make a drink, similar to coffee but with minimal caffeine content.

Traditional Uses

The seeds only have very little caffeine.
