Disa ochrostachya is a perennial plant and geophyte belonging to the genus Disa. The species occurs in Angola, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Cameroon, Kenya, Malawi, Republic of Congo, Rwanda, Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

Description

An orchid. It grows 25 - 80 cm tall. The flowering stems have sword shaped leaves that sheath the stem. The flowering spike is long and slender. The flowers are yellow with orange marks. They are 1 cm across.

Edible Uses

The tubers and roots are edible.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant.
