Description

A shrub. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows 90-120 cm tall. It grows from a thick, short rhizome. The stem can be branched are covered with bright green leaves. The long leaves have veins along them. The flowers are small and simple. They are green, white or pink. They are bell shaped. The fruit are pulpy berries. They can be pink or red.

Edible Uses

The shoots are eaten raw in salads where they taste like cucumbers, and can also be cooked in soups. The pulpy berries have a cucumber flavor and can be eaten with sugar and ice cream.
