Parmentiera stenocarpa is a species of plant in the family Bignoniaceae. It is endemic to Colombia.

Description

A shrub or small tree. It grows 4-6 m high. The trunk is 6-8 cm across. The fruit are narrow and 30-40 cm long. They are yellow.

Edible Uses

Fruit - raw. The pulp of the elongated fruit has a sweet flavour. The yellow nearly cylindrical fruit is around 30 - 40cm long and 1 - 2cm wide, tapering to base and apex , Seeds. The seeds are 4 - 5mm long and 6 - 7mm wide

Traditional Uses

The pulp of the fruit is eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in wet lowland forest.
