Description

A herb. It is slightly woody near the base. It can be a small shrub. It grows 10-60 cm high. The flowers have a scent. The flowers are white or pink. The fruit are purple.

Edible Uses

The leaves are occasionally eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. In Fiji it grows from sea level to 1,100 m altitude. It grows in dense or open forest. It is often in rocky places in deep shade and near streams.
