Description
Gigartina exasperata, known as Turkish bath towel, is a tropical seaweed harvested commercially. The broad thick blades contain approximately 50% carrageenan.

The broad thick blades are chopped and used as a substitute for gelatin in vegetable foods as a thickening agent.
