A puffball fungus found in temperate regions, classified in the family Sclerodermataceae (also Lycoperdiaceae).

Traditional Uses

CAUTION: This fungus is reported as poisonous in some places. IT SHOULD NOT BE EATEN. The risks are greater with alcohol. It is eaten cooked and raw and also in a preparation of salted fish.
