Source: WikipediaBanksia ashbyi, commonly known as Ashby's banksia, is a species of shrub or small tree that is endemic to Western Australia. It has smooth, grey bark, deeply serrated, hairy leaves and spikes of bright orange flowers.
Description
A medium to large shrub. It grows 3-6 m high and 2-5 m wide. The leaves are stiff. They are dark grey-green and narrow. They are 25 cm long. They are deeply lobed. They are paler underneath. The flowers are orange.
Edible Uses
The flowers produce edible nectar.
Distribution
It can grow in warm temperate and semiarid regions. It can grow in moist well drained or dry soils. It can tolerate light frosts. It can grow in sandy alkaline soils. It suits hardiness zones 10-11.

Cultivation
Plants are grown from seed.
Notes
There are about 75 Banksia species. They are mostly in Australia.
