Description
A tree. It grows 12 m tall. The small branches have rusty hairs. The leaves are narrowly oval and the tip is rounded. The base is wedge shaped. There is a distinct vein around the edges of the leaves. The leaves are 13-28 cm long by 6-9 cm wide. The flowers are on the older wood below the leaves. They are on stalks 24-30 cm long with many flowers. The flowers have a rusty colour and are golden yellow at the tips. Probably now Finschia rufa
Edible Uses
The kernels and nuts are edible.
Distribution
A tropical plant. It grows in the rainforest at about 500 m above sea level.
