Description
Monardella lanceolata is a ANNUAL growing to 0.5 m (1ft 8in). The species is hermaphrodite (has both male and female organs). Suitable for: light (sandy) and medium (loamy) soils and prefers well-drained soil. Suitable pH: mildly acid, neutral and basic (mildly alkaline) soils. It cannot grow in the shade. It prefers moist soil.
Edible Uses
Tea. The plant is used as a tea substitute.
Medicinal Uses
AnalgesicA decoction of the leaves, upper stems and flowers has been used in the treatment of colds and headaches.

South-western N. America.

NORTHERN AMERICA: United States (California), Mexico (Baja)
Cultivation
Prefers a moist but well-drained sandy soil. Requires a sunny position.

Seed - sow late spring in situ.
