Edible Uses
Fruit - raw. A dark red, fleshy pulp with a slightly sweet, refreshing flavour. It can be used to make juices.The fruits are about 13cm in diameter.
Medicinal Uses
The leaves (stems?) are used to treat burns.

Cultivation
A plant of the warm tropical lowlands with low to high rainfall. Plants can tolerate occasional short-lived frosts to -1°c. Often an epiphytic plant, though it also grows on the ground. Requires a well-drained soil and a pH of 6 or lower. The fragrant flowers open during the night.
