Heliotropium europaeum is a species of heliotrope known by the common names European heliotrope and European turn-sole.

Description

A herb. It grows each year from seed. It grows 20-50 cm tall. The leaves are narrowly oval and 2-4 cm long by 1-2.5 cm wide. They are grey-green and hairy underneath.

Known Hazards

It contains pyrrolizidine alkaloids and is poisonous.

Distribution

It is a temperate and Mediterranean plant.
