Description
A tropical shrub or small tree in the Lacistemataceae family, growing 2-4 m tall and reaching up to 7 m in forest conditions.

Cultivation
Grows best in a sunny position. Found in the wild in dry soils. Established plants are drought tolerant. Young plants have a moderate rate of growth.
Propagation
Seed - best sown as soon as it is ripe in a partially shaded position in a nursery seedbed. A germination rate of around 30% can be expected, with the seed sprouting within 30 - 40 days.
Other Uses
The wood is coarse-textured, straight-grained, light in weight, easy to cut, with a low resistance to wood-eating organisms. Because of its small size it is only used for fuel.
