Description

A shrub or small tree. It grows 2-5 m tall. It can be 12 m tall in the forest. The fruit are black. They are round and 8 mm across. They have one seed.

Edible Uses

The fruit are eaten.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It grows in wetland and upland areas. It grows in a range of soils including muddy banks of tidal streams. It can grow up to about 1,000 m above sea level.

Production

Fruiting starts while the shrub is 2 m tall. A shrub produces about 10 fruit. Fruit are ready during the rainy season.
