Description

A herb. It does not have a stem. It keeps growing from year to year. It grows from a thickened woody rootstock. It has several slender roots. There can be many leaves or only a few. They come from the roots and spread out. The leaf stalk is 10 cm long. The leaf blade is 4-20 cm long by 2-7 cm wide. It is broadly sword shaped. The root stem is 60 cm long with 2 kinds of female flower parts.

Medicinal Uses

Used in medicine as an anti-oxidant.

Distribution

It is a tropical plant. It is a plant that has adapted to tolerate fire. It grows in high altitude grasslands. It often flowers are fires.
