Description

A fern. It forms tufts and grows in the ground. It can be 1-7 m tall and spread 1.5 m wide. It can have a slender trunk. The fronds can have some hairs and scales. The fruiting bodies or sori are round and underneath the fronds.

Edible Uses

The fronds and leaves are edible.

Distribution

It is a temperate plant. It grows along streams and damp gullies. It is in shaded areas. It needs to be in moist soil and protected from frost.
