Eugenia mabaeoides is a species of plant in the Myrtaceae. It is found only in Sri Lanka.

Description

A shrub or small tree. The trunk is short and greenish. Young shoot are hairy. The leaves can be spoon shaped or narrowly oval. They taper to a wedge shaped base. The flowers are pale green and cup shaped. They are in groups of 1-3 in the axils of leaves. The fruit si succulent and bright red.

Edible Uses

The ripe fruit is eaten.

Distribution

A tropical plant. It grows in the understorey in mountain forest.
